
Clinical Care Professional Leadership Mentor for Community/Social
Dr Lynn Prendergast is a professional social worker, leader and mentor who has significant operational and strategic experience of delivering effective and award-winning services. Lynn has a foundation of direct operational practice and believes that empowering and supporting the workforce underpins successful integrated service delivery.
Since qualifying Lynn has worked in and managed integrated system wide services that are responsive and flexible to the needs of communities. Fundamental to Lynn’s practice is a strong belief in collaboration and engagement with the workforce, informing the development of inclusive and compassionate leadership at all levels. Since qualifying her practice has been shaped by engagement with individuals who use services, and their families using their experience and feedback to improve service delivery. She uses a strengths-based approach and is a proponent of community initiatives that can improve health and wellbeing, enabling flexibility, self-agency and self-management in meeting health and social care needs.
Lynn has worked nationally with the Department of Health and Social Care and Health Education England on key areas of social care/community practice such as: the creation of a range of resources to support the employment of social workers in a wide range of settings and the operational delivery of personal health budgets. Lynn was also a committee member and contributed to the development of the NICE guideline “Social work with adults experiencing complex needs” (2022).
In addition to her role in MSE she is currently a member of the Strategic Oversight group supporting the NIHR research “Family Group Conferencing in adult social care and mental health” and works as a consultant in health/social care. Since spending time with wild horses in Canada, earlier this year, she is on her own personal journey of development that encompasses equine facilitated learning and training as an NLP practitioner.
