About this plan
Our Joint Forward Plan describes how NHS partners across mid and south Essex will work together over the next five years to meet the needs of local people.
The Plan is written in three parts:
Part 1 explains the collective ambitions and shared commitments of NHS partners and where we want get to so we can to meet local needs, promote fairness and achieve the best value for taxpayers.
Part 2 describes how we will achieve our ambitions and commitments, through integrating services at every level, working with our communities and through cross-system leadership to help to find solutions to improve outcomes and value for our money.
Part 3 features our plans to deliver on the national NHS Long Term Plan commitments and the things we, as the NHS locally have to do, by law.
The plan is iterative and will be updated each year.
These plans are based on the conversations we have had with local people, staff and partners recognising our collective strength in working together to resolve the challenges.
Focus of the plan
At the heart of our work is the desire to improve the health of our population. We know that we can only do this by working in partnership with others including local authorities, public health teams, health and social care professionals, service providers and residents themselves.
There is no hiding from the fact that this is a challenging time for health and care services, but we are recovering well from the pandemic and we will continue to work together to improve further.
Joint Forward Plan refresh: 2024 – 2029
This updated document provides a refresh of Mid and South Essex Integrated Care Board’s (MSE ICB) Joint Forward Plan for 2024-29. It recommits the NHS system in MSE to the strategic ambitions set out in the 2023-28 Joint Forward Plan, which were developed in partnership with local stakeholders and approved by the Essex, Southend and Thurrock Health and Wellbeing Boards in June 2023 and by the ICB Board in May 2023.
