We are reminding people that there is only a week left to share their views on proposed changes to before a public consultation closes on Thursday 4 April.
We are holding a consultation on proposals affecting community hospitals, the location of a freestanding midwife-led birthing unit and the proposed closure of St Peter’s Hospital. The last day to complete a survey is on Thursday 4 April.
We have spoken to many residents across mid and south Essex over the last nine weeks. The insight we have gathered will prove invaluable to us as we begin thinking about next steps.
We want to make sure that we fully understand how our proposals will affect local residents. We are asking everyone who lives and works in mid and south Essex to look at what our proposals mean and let us know their views. Every response will be helpful, so wherever you live in the area, please share with us your thoughts.

The consultation which began on 25 January is asking people to consider proposals on:
- potential changes to the places where some community hospital intermediate care and stroke rehabilitation services are provided,
- making permanent the temporary move of the freestanding midwife-led birthing unit from St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon to the William Julien Courtauld Unit at St Michael’s, Braintree.
- the possibility of moving all other patient services at St Peter’s Hospital, Maldon to other locations, mostly in and around Maldon.
Originally scheduled to end on 25 March, the consultation was extended to allow more time for residents to consider the proposals and complete an online survey.
