A grant scheme for community-based initiatives to support projects focused on improving the lives of those living in mid and south Essex has launched this month.
Supporting voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise organisations, NHS Mid and South Essex is working with Essex Community Foundation to enable better mental health support in traditionally underserved communities.
Grants totalling between £5,000 and £20,000 are on offer to not-for-profit groups and organisations, with a particular focus improving mental health in local communities.
This is the second round of funding available from the ‘Mid and South Essex Mental Health Inequalities Programme’ and to be eligible to apply, charities and community groups must be working in mid and south Essex.
The Mental Health Inequalities Fund will specifically target marginalised communities and will benefit residents in the areas of: Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Castle Point, Chelmsford, Maldon, Rochford, Southend-On-Sea, and Thurrock.
Applications from these areas must match with the following criteria:
- Focus on historically underserved communities.
- Help the Essex Community Foundation learn how to improve the accessibility and inclusiveness of mental health support for people experiencing mental health inequalities.
Offer new and fresh ideas in supporting these groups of people to achieve their goals.
“This fund presents a crucial opportunity for health inequalities relating to mental health and mental health support to be addressed, discussed, and hopefully narrowing the equality gap.”
“I would encourage people to come forward with their ideas for projects and initiatives that they think could be of service to their local area and fellow residents.”
“This is a wonderful opportunity to address a key issue within the local area and everyone involved from the Essex Community Foundation and the local NHS believes it will make a significant difference in address mental health in equality in our local communities.”
