Let’s Talk About Breasts is a new film designed to help women with learning disabilities and autism understand what happens during a mammogram.
Breast screening is always a personal choice, but we know that it can sometimes feel worrying or confusing. This short film aims to take the fear out of the process by showing, clearly and calmly, what to expect before, during and after your breast screening appointment.
The film has been co-produced with women with learning disabilities and developed in partnership with NHS Mid and South Essex, Ace Anglia, Thinklusive, and Sport for Confidence.
It forms part of our wider work to remove barriers to breast screening and make it easier for everyone to access vital health checks.
We also developed a talking text video to help people with learning disabilities and autism understand breast screening.
This video explains what a breast screening is, why it’s important, and what happens during an appointment, through the use of easy read language, simple explanations, and clear audio narration to support understanding. It aims to help people feel more confident and informed about attending their breast screening appointment.
